Predoctoral Fellowship

ACTIONS hosts an innovative fellowship that seeks to connect, mentor, and support scholars looking to pursue a Ph.D. or postdoctoral studies at the School of Nursing (SON), University of California San Francisco (UCSF). The program provides funding for pre-and post-doctoral scholars to design studies that prioritize reproductive justice as the primary approach to reproductive health services provision, including abortion, birth, contraception, healthy sexuality, parenting, and pleasure.

We are looking for scholars who are enthusiastic and passionate about transformational change toward reproductive health and justice. This fellowship provides a unique opportunity to train the next generation of thought leaders and change agents in nursing leadership and faculty positions around the country.

PROGRAM COMPONENTS

Core components are designed to meet the needs of each scholar and foster a collaborative learning environment that is supported through mentorship, guidance, and access. The program offers the following:

• Social support to foster holistic learning
• Stipend and educational support funds

ELIGIBILITY

• Accepted into the UCSF SON Nursing PhD program
• Commitment to reproductive justice
• Stated research focus related to reproductive health services provision, including abortion, birth, contraception, healthy sexuality, parenting, and pleasure
• Expressed desire for leadership in nursing administration and/or commitment to accepting a faculty position in an area without active abortion-focused nurse scholars
